Things to do locally
Whilst it's so beautiful here you may just want to stay on site and soak up the Yorkshire air, you can also head out and explore the area. There is plenty to do no matter what takes your fancy.

Holmfirth & Penistone
The market towns of Holmfirth and Penistone are about a 5 -15 minute drive.
Holmfirth is picturesque, lots of restaurants and cafes, music venues and bars. Some specialist shopping and we highly recommend the Chocolate Box sweetie shop.

Penistone is considered the highest market town in England, situated in the foothills of the Pennines at an elevation of 750ft (230m) above sea level. With convenient supermarkets as well as cafes, restaurants and shopping it's the most convienient place to shop.

Yummy Yorkshire is also a local must visit, delicious ice-creams from the parlour perfect for a sunny afternoon, or full English breakfast on a chilly morning.​​

Trans Pennine Trail
The Trans Pennine Trail (TPT) near Penistone and Dunford Bridge offers a scenic and versatile route for walkers, cyclists, and horse riders. This section of the trail follows the old Great Central Railway line, providing a traffic-free path that winds through picturesque countryside and rolling moors.

The trail is well-surfaced and gently rising, making it suitable for families and cyclists of all levels. Along the way, you'll find picnic spots, wildlife habitats, and even locally crafted sculptures. It's a fantastic way to explore the natural beauty of the area.

Langsett Reserviour
Langsett Reservoir is a stunning water body located in South Yorkshire, near the villages of Langsett and Upper Midhope. An easy walk from our site (2.5m from to the waters edge), and a beautiful reserviour to walk around.
It lies on the northeastern edge of the Peak District National Park and was constructed between 1898 and 1904. The reservoir is fed by the Little Don River and spans approximately 125 acres.

The area around Langsett Reservoir offers breathtaking views, especially from the surrounding moorlands. Visitors can enjoy walking routes that weave through woodlands and open landscapes, providing opportunities for birdwatching and exploring the natural beauty. The reservoir is also popular among cyclists and horse riders, thanks to its bridleway network.

Places to Eat
The Magic Woods Cafe is just a 5 minute walk down the trail towards Dunford Bridge - searving bacon butties, sausages sandwhiches, drinks and icecreams.

Yummy Yorkshire, about a 15 minutes drive serves the most amazing sit down breakfasts and home made ice-creams.

Holmfirth and Penistone have almost every cuisine imaginable, from Tapas, Burgers, Italian and Indians and more besides.

Fishing
Scout Dike Trout fishery is about a 15 minutes drive, day tickets can be bought from the ticket office. Its a beautiful reserviour and some amazing catches.

Nethermill Course fishery in Pensitone is a small and freindly site with day tickets available.

Holmfirth Picturedrome & Penistone Paramount
Holmfirth Picturedrome is a beautful music venue. Often sold out, so buy your tickets in advance.

Penistone Paramount is an old fashioned cinema, only one screen - enjoy your film with a pint from the bar or a cup of tea - you can't get more yorkshire than that!
